Well Maybe not everyone, but its surely the cool thing of movies and games these days.
Before I got into film I used to be a hobby robot maker and won several awards for my designs, even got offered a 1st year scholarship to M.I.T. for my High School Award Winning robot.
As a film maker I love emerging technology and with the advancements in drone photography and 3 axis gimbal stablizing systems I quickly jumped in eager to try them. When working with the DJI Ronin, I quickly found this new steadicam alternative to be to heavy for long term use. (About 15 min at a time).
The Images were gorgeous but impossible to carry the 20lbs rig for long. Sure, I put it on my steadicam and it worked fine, but after a day of playing Xbox 360 Call of Duty Advance Warfare and watching Edge of Tomorrow, My robot making side kicked in.
It was time to build what I was dreaming and it actually had a practical use. More important I had the background to pull it off. It's basically a Quad arm Steadicam that puts 2 arms on the gimbal and 2 arms directly on the ground thus removing all weight of the operator and on to the ground and mechanics. Giving the operator the ability to film all day and not feel the weight of suit or rig.
After the completion of the prototype, I will launch a kickstarter to put it into full production and thus allow anyone to have this cool technology for themselves.
